His wife the redneck...

So, it's no news to any of you that I struggle with headaches - a lot.  Probably over half are due to muscle tension in my neck and shoulders.
Well, when we went to Iringa, I was able to see a friend we have made here who is a physio-therapist.  She graciously gave me a neck and shoulder massage.  It was really such a blessing!  It really really really really really hurt, but it also really really really really really loosened me up.
At the end of the session, she asked if I was familiar with tape.  Hmmm... strange question.  Well, fast forward a little more and this is what you get.

Yep, that's me!  Apparently, this is a tape that supports the muscle and helps take the tension from it a bit so the muscle can rest.  You are supposed to leave it on for a few days until it starts peeling by itself.  The tape went from where you see down, across my shoulder to just before where the top of my arm starts (I am sure there should be a better way to say that...)  It was great!  Here we are on vacay and I am walking around town, meeting people, and getting comments like, 'Oh - I remember you.  I recognize that red strip...'  :)
And my husband took to calling me a redneck.  Thanks, honey.  I love you too.
So, if any of you were confused by the reference to the red tape on my neck in the previous post - now you should not be too confused.  Or something.
xoxo

  1. It is crazy. I saw a lot of this tape in the Olympics and figured it must be some new muscle thingy. Pastor Tim and Joann were here this weekend. She had on black tape around her knee. She says it is wonderful. She also was telling me that there are many different kinds of that tape. I am guessing the kind that you have is what she referred to as torture tape!!! She just picked up about 9 rolls here at our Walgreens. Hope that it does help!

  2. The tape is called kinesio (ka-niece-e-o) tape, and they use it all the time here too in the states. I mean at least in physical therapy sites. It was made popular years ago when they first started really using it at the Olympics. I have never had it on myself before, but I've heard it's incredible stuff from those who have. Sorry, but I find it so cool that people in Africa use it too. Sorry, "redneck" sis! Hope it works and your neck feels better.
